Links curtos explicados
URL shorteners are convenient — and easy to abuse. Here’s how to stay safer.
What shorteners do
They map a short code to a long destination and issue an HTTP redirect. Anyone who controls the mapping can change where you land.
Risks
- Hidden final domain until after the click
- Reused or recycled codes
- Tracking parameters added in transit
Safer habits
- Expand the link with a confirmation tool before opening it in your main browser
- Prefer full official URLs from brands you typed yourself
- Be extra careful with finance, crypto, payroll, and package-delivery themes
